My four horns are in the score in 1, 3, 2, 4 order. Sometimes I condense 1/3, 2/4. For only one system, I would like to condense 1, 2, 3/4. I have not been able to make it happen. The best I can do is 1, 3/4, 2. Has anyone had success with condensing like this?
Yes.
Eliminate any custom condensing groups.
Put the order back to 1,2,3,4.
Then, use manual condensing changes for either 1/3, 2/4 or 1,2,3/4.
Remember you are able to add staves in condensing changes (it’s a bit hidden - be sure to scroll down in the DB).
Aren’t you worried that this might make your score harder to read?
If not, yes, you can change the condensation settings for the bars in this system only (in Engrave mode).
I’ll leave it to other members of this forum to give you step-by-step instructions. I’m not at my computer at the moment, so I can’t guide you properly.
Just be advised that if you remove all the condensing groups, you then have to do all condensing manually. Want to switch from “1 + 2, separate stems” to “1 + 2, single stem”? Add a manual Condensing Change. Want to switch back? Add a manual Condensing Change.
This can add quite some work just so can have the one single exception you need.
You’re right. I shouldn’t do it.
