Is it possible to rename a Dorico Project Template? I have created a couple templates for different ensembles and purposes and stored them in a “My Templates” section in the Hub. Occasionally as things change (and I learn more about using Dorico) I make small changes to these templates. When I do, I can’t then save it to the same name, so I add something to the name to make it different and delete the original template. But I can’t figure out how to change the name of the Template so I don’t have a stream of revision numbers… I just want a short list of “My Templates” with simple names like “My Big Band Arranging Template” or “My Jazz Quintet Arranging Template”. Any way to directly edit the name?
Hi @billsshepherd,
- I found that, despite the warning message in the Save As Project Template…
…you can save a new template with the same Category/Name, and the old template will be overwritten.
- if you want to rename the templates, you can make this directly from the operating system. You find them in
~Library/Application support/Steinberg/Dorico 5/Project templates (on MacOS, be sure to choose the user Library)
%appdata%\Roaming\Steinberg\Dorico 5\Project Templates (on Windows)

That worked as soon as I reminded myself out how to show hidden files in Mac OS. Thanks!
