I use the scarlett 2i2 3rd generation and ahve recently been using its own driver for recording through it(for lower latency). However when using this the selection does not come up to use my laptop built-in speakers. Any ideas?
Hi,
You can use only one Audio Device. Switch it in the Studio > Studio Setup > Audio System > ASIO Driver, please.
Yes I would, but the latency is so high I always get out of time with the beat. When I use the Scarlett driver there is low latency but I cant hear sound ulesss using an output through the scarlett.
I’m afraid that is the way it works. You pick one ASIO Driver (one device) for both input and output. You’ll need to listen back through either speakers or headphones connected to your Scarlett device, not the internal speakers.
Hi,
You can try to use ASIO4ALL as a virtual driver.
How do I use this?
install it. Select it as your asio driver in cubase. Open control panel and adjust which ins and outs are active if needed.
Hi,
How does it look like in Studio > Audio Connections > Outputs, please?
The Realtek (which will be laptop speakers) is active but the Focusrite is inactive. If you want to use both then turn on the Focusrite using the power button in the ASIO4all dialogue.
The arrow next to the power button opens more details of specific ins and outs so open those and check the ones you need are active. I would uncheck that mic array you currently have (in ASIO4all) as active…you won’t need this.
Then select Focusrite as input in Cubase audio connections and realtek as stereo output.
Sorry for not replying sooner. I do this but as soon as I add my second group of ins/outs the sound just bcomes really distorted and messed up.
Can you show what you have selected?
Also click the cog icon to open the advanced settings.
Definitely turn off externally clocked in Cubase. You switched this on since the last screencap for some reason.
Probably turn off the HD Audio Driver? (In ASIO4all) Hard to know which outs are your laptop speakers but I would be trying with just realtek active first.
Not working for me. Should I look into finding another driver?
The only other driver that will aggregate devices I’m aware of is VB Matrix or Coconut. They look quite complex to set up though I haven’t tried.
The better option is to not use your laptop speakers and monitor in the focusrite, that’s how this software is designed to work, the third party drivers are just trying to fudge a solution.
Yes, I will probablly for now bring up my guitar amps for sound and use the scarlett and later find a long term solution
