Maybe answered before, but I have a notation that I don’t know how to do in Dorico.
I am trying to enter the song Dindirin and the problem happens in the bars 6 and 7. Bar 6 is in 3/4 but bar 7 is in Cut Common. (C with a vertical line)
The problem is that bar 7 has two quarter notes in it and the bar appears to be full. If I just enter notes I can fit in four quarter notes easily.
What’s the trick to make bar 7 full with two quarter notes.
Thanks for any ,help.
@OzMazAU are you able to screenshot or attach some visual aid of what you’re trying to do?
It’s a pickup bar. You can create these with the Time Signature popover, by typing 2/2,1 (The number after the comma is the number of beats in the pickup bar.)
You’ll then get one bar with 1 beat, followed by ‘normal’ length bars. You’ll need to change the time sig to cut C symbol in the Properties panel. (You could type cutC,1 in the popover, but I used numbers to give you a better example of how it works. )
When you get to bar 34, just start the 3/4 on the 2nd beat of the bar, using the caret.
Hi benwiggy,
You’re spot on with your advice and helpful tips.
Thanks very much.
P.S. I thought you could only do pickup bars at the start of a song and not anywhere in the song. I did try, but I really needed your advice.
