How do I automate a Pro-Q3 in VST Live?

I would like to automate one EQ frequency on one track to create a simple filter sweep up and down.

I have inserted a Fabfilter Pro-Q3 on a track and set the EQ the way I want it.

I set the automation lane to Pro-Q3

My problem now is that in the automation mapping options, I do not find any of the parameters of the Pro-Q3:

The online manual is no help.

What am I doing wrong? Or is this not possible?

hmmm, that should be working. Let’s look together what am I doing differently:
added an audio track, inserted Q3, added an autom track, selected the audio-track’s-proq3, mapped.

Hi @SMY1,

It looks like you selected a Track-Channel - named “Pro-Q 3”.

Watch out that you select the Plug-In from the Track, like this

Does it work?
Michael.

Yes, did it exactly like you. Only that I get none of the Pro-Q parameters.

Hi Michael,

yes, that’s what I had selected too.

Unfortunately no mapping parameters for the EQ.

I also just tried it on a brand new project with just one song and also used Steinberg’s Dual Filter to test if this might be a Fabfilter issue, but also no luck. The mapping stays empty:

I am on VSTL 3.0.57 and on Win11 (newest build).

Hi

Ive checked 3.0.57 with the DualFilter Plug-In.

If you click to the Mapping you don’t see the menu with the two Parameters “Pos” and “Reso”?

And what happens if you record your automation? Because the mapping should happen automatically..

See you
Michael.

Maybe this could help a little to find a solution…

After testing for various situations I cannot get the result SMY1 got. Tried on Steinberg plugins, NI plugins and any other third party plugins. Everything works as expected especially in new project.

But…
If I add plugin to Audio Track insert, then choose it in Automation track and select some parameters for automation and tested - recorded live some changes, then after I remove that plugin from the insert, the Automation track still have all the definitions it got while plugin was attached. Also mappings are in place as if there is connection to plugin.

And then if I added any other plugin to the insert, the automation track got stuck on the previous data. Maybe this was happened in @SMY1’s project?

It’s surely a bug, because once plugin is removed (maybe there should be a warning that also automations will be removed) all the connections and parameters also should be cleaned.

… I totally agree! We’ll check,
Michale.

When set it up, I see only “nc” , no other parameters.

If I record automation then it shows the parameters:
