How do I change the names of files in an already existing Montage?

We have been working on a project for over two years. We have created Montages using the working titles like “Schumann MVMT 1 take one from tape NR and EQ” Now the record company wants exact titles with no extra words. Since the Montage (with timings in between pieces has been approved) how do I change the names of the pieces without messing up the approved Montage? Thanks in advance.

I guess you just have to rename the clips or the markers. Not the file names themselves.

Thanks but the record company wants the NAME of the file changed. They want both individual files AND a DDP all with the same names…Ideas? Seems like this process is something that should be in WL???

Normally, the audio files to give to the client are the audio file generated from the montage, not the original source audio file. This is why I told this you before.

Now if your audio montage does not do any processing with these source audio file, then if you want to rename the original audio files, this is simple: open the File Tool Window and right click on the file names:

This happens to me all the time … A&R changes the name of a track/s for some reason or I don’t even get the correct name even for major artist projects at the outset.

I have been doing what PG suggests and if necessary doing the hard yards changing rendered wav files for deliverables.

Thanks for the reply. This “process” seems like something that should be built into WL as more and more artist and record companies are “changing their minds” at the last minute. FWIW

I don’t understand why you say so because I explained you earlier how to do it from WaveLab.

Thanks, what I meant is WL updating the Montage when you change the name of a file.

I have in my 31 years of mastering never run into this particular problem before. I guess I have been lucky. Most times I send a DDP but this record company wants both.

Yes, this is exactly what I have described above: you rename the audio file from WaveLab and the audio montage is updated by WaveLab automatically.
