How do I delete bar number changes?

How do I delete a bar number change? The manual says, “select the bar number changes you want to delete”, but there’s literally nothing to select.

In this thread, @pianoleo suggests selecting the bar number, but the bar numbers in Gallery View aren’t selectable, and in Page View, there is no bar number visible in that bar.

You should get a Signpost, at least, for an invisible bar number change.

Nope. I don’t see a signpost.

Problem fixed by deleting the extra 12/8 meter change at the third measure #13.

Dorico team, this is perhaps a rare bug. Attaching a simplied session, in case someone wants to look into it.

I’d say whatever you did to add those “12/8” signatures, which aren’t actually 12/8, may well have been a factor.

There’s no bug here.

First I’d ask; What prompted you to add all those 12/8 meter changes?
Second: Be aware how Dorico treats meter changes that you make before later explicit meter changes. Unless Insert mode is used, Dorico will not pad the last bar before an explicit meter change, so you may end up with strange pickup bars.

I’m confused. How is this not a bug? Shouldn’t it give you a signpost? I too am running into a situation where I appear to have old bar number changes messing up my counts, and I can’t find a way to delete it. I’m currently just adding yet another bar number change to correct it, which is…almost certainly a bad idea that’ll stack up issues over time. Luckily, this problem is happening near the end of a project for me, so I shouldn’t stack up too many of these invisible changes…

A manual bar number change usually gives me a new bar number, which I can delete. If not, then I’d wager that deleting the barline itself will remove the change.
