Hi, I imported a midi track with CC#7 data in it and I was hoping this would control the fader on the track.

Hi,

Use the MIDI Remote, please. If there is no script available already (what kind of MIDI keyboard/controller do you own?), you can create custom controller easily ba using the Mapping Assistant.

I am not using any MIDI keyboard/controller.

I am creating a soundtrack to go along with a video, and I want to move the faders depending on what is on the screen. I have written python code to do the video analysis and have created midi files with my desired fader movements. (I am trying to automate the mix based on the visual imagery.)

Do I just create a made up a dummy midi controller?

MIDI/Functions/Extract MIDI Automation.

To be clear the midi volume would work without doing this but you just don’t see the fader move. This converts to an automation lane. Show all used automation if you want to edit it.
