I prefer to have full factory defaults for the fresh installation.
Move the 14 preferences folder elsewhere. After the install, move it back.

Or, after the 15 install, just delete the 15 prefs folder. Next start of Cubase and it will create the defaults.
I do believe only the first method would work. The latter will import the prefs from the earlier version,

If I may add - @Martin.Jirsak did a test quite a while ago and preferences are also transferred from previous versions going back 2 iterations if I recall correctly.
Time to add an option for this, methinks.
