Next step for me will be adding a video backdrop to my live set. I plan on using some of the footage I already have for my social media, but for some songs I’d be content with interactive music visulizers like these: Music Video Maker | Vizzy. Perhaps just having my logo bounce and change a little depending on the music. But it seems to me that software for that is typically integrated with Ableton (like The Best Online Music Visualizer Tool | DJ.Studio).
Question to those working with video:
How do you create visualizers synced with VST Live music? Any special software to recommend? Tips and tricks? Do’s and don’ts?
i just tried plane9 , you can feed audio track in mp3 and render a video vith many vizualizers scenes/ transitions etc and insert the video file in a vidoe track in VST (obviously it will be non interactive non real time, just a rendered visualizer.
For a live real time reactive visualizer, i succeded with plane9 and new function in VST live 3 and using OBS. I had to use some tricks:
1- open plane9 and start windowed visualizer scene (set what you hear or default windows recording device like internal laptop mic as audio source (not possible, or at least stilldid not find the way to send ASIO / vstlive audio directly to plane9, may be possible with steinberg mixkey)
2- open OBS and select window as video source, assign the plane 9 window
3 - Start vitual camera in OBS
4- in vst live 3 create a video track, select input OBS virtual camera, then activate monitor channel - you’ll have the visualizer video ported inside vst 3 live in realtime, you can send video to video1 out or video2 and then use video director to select with video goes to Vd-monitor
This way when you will play live, your audio from VSTLive played loudly outside from asio interface, will be captured by laptop mic (non ASIO) and fed to plane9 visualizer, the visualizer video will be streamed inside VSTLive 3 and transmitted on your video out.
A bit complicated, if your song will be executed always the same way, i would prefere to make an mp3, feed to a record capable visualizer and import in vst the all done video.
As mentioned and suggested to u involving OBS, I’m going to do the same with masked live-cam view. Doing the keying-mask via OBS and fwd the feed to VL3’s video-inp
Also you can trigger scenes for OBS via MIDI#CC also
