How do you attach a dynamic marking to a grace note?

Hello everyone,

How do you attach a dynamic marking directly to a grace note?

In my experience, even if I specifically select the grace note and input a dynamic, it automatically attaches itself to the normal note immediately following it.

Because of this, it seems there is no way to achieve this visually except by letting it attach to the principal note, and then manually shifting the dynamic to the left in Engrave mode.

Am I correct in thinking this is the only way, or is there a proper workaround to attach it directly to the grace note?

Many thanks in advance!

Works here. You should also be able to move the dynamic with alt/opt arrows.

Thank you for your kind and detailed explanation.

I now realise that the reason I could not find this was that I had been using copy and paste. As you can see in the attachment, dynamic markings behave correctly when entered manually on a grace note, and they can also be repositioned. However, pasting them does not seem to work in the same way.

Ha, sorry should have added some more detail.

Your explanation was detailed in exactly the right way, because it focused on the key point. Without it, I would not have realised that this issue was caused by copy and paste.

There is no need to apologise at all — your explanation was very helpful.
