How do you control a VST Instrument FX with MIDI?

I am trying to send controller CC2 (Breath) to a VST Instrument FX (Native Instruments B 4 II) assigned to a Audio track.

AFAIK, B4 is an instrument and would need an instrument track, but some of instrument also show up as fx, not sure B4 is one of those.

You have a wind controller?

What do you want it to do?

Different synths do different things with different numbers or they do nothing until you assign them to do something inside the synth.

But if you’re sending them to the midi port/channel where the synth is set up they’re getting there.
