How does one test whether a good mic has gone bad?

Hi,

I’m hearing an odd almost robotic quality to tracked vocals I haven’t noticed before. I should say I had all my equipment in storage (climate-controlled) for 3 years or so, and am just firing everything up again since then.

AT 4033 (not the newer 4033A).

I googled, and all i could find was how you make sure a generic mic was active in W10, sorry for the bother if I missed good info on line.

You should listen to it with headphones and no A/D conversion involved… a preamp with headphone out or a small mixing desk would do it.
