How exclude other parts when creating slices?

Way back in the Atari days there were something called “ghost parts” which were affected whenever you made a change to the original part.

Nowadays I’ve lost track of what the new term is for this function and how to choose this way of copying or the other.

So right now I’m trying to create slices in a audio part, but the problem is that it affects other parts which I don’t wanna include in this slicing process.

  1. Can I cut this part loose from the others? How?
  2. Next time I will copy a part, how do I copy it without it becoming a ghost copy?
  3. What is the new term for ghost copy and is there a way to easily see if a part is it or not?

  1. Next time I will copy a part, how do I copy it without it becoming a ghost copy?

You can do this by holding Alt & dragging (real copy) or Alt + shift (shared) for Midi parts, don’t think you can with audio. (i.e I think all audio copies are shared unless you do the above)

The term is Shared copy…and no idea!

Look for a big = sign on it.
