How insert trills on dorico element6 step by step

Select a note, or several notes.

Then either use the ornaments popover:
Shift+O, type tr then Enter

Or the ornaments panel on the right.

Then if you select the trill, you’ll see dozens of properties in the properties panel (appearance, interval, auxiliary note or not…)

[Video made on 6 Pro, but it’s the same in Elements — the only difference is that (I think) you can’t globally costumize the trills appearance in Elements since you don’t have Engraving Options, but you can use the properties for that.]
