Hello,
So since Cubase 13 came out there was a lot of backlash mostly regarding the UI and fonts. Has there been any improvement since the release, is it worth upgrading form Cubase 12? Any issues, or skip the upgrade?
Hello,
So since Cubase 13 came out there was a lot of backlash mostly regarding the UI and fonts. Has there been any improvement since the release, is it worth upgrading form Cubase 12? Any issues, or skip the upgrade?
Why don’t you download the trial version and try it for 60 days?
Every time I do things like thaet things go wrong, I don’t want to be messing up with the system.
I’m afraid the only person who can say if C13 is worth it to you or not is you.
There have been issues and bugs with C13, particularly with graphical glitches. The patches and hotfix have fixed all of those for me.
For me, personally, C13 is working fine with no crashes or performance issues, but others on the forum have had different experiences. I appreciate you are hesitant to try the demo, but it’s the only way for you to test and try out without committing to buying it.
One tip:
Temporarily drag the C12 prefs t the desktop, then install the C13 trial & let it build its prefs from scratch. When finished, put the C12 prefs back where they should be.
This takes a bit longer but works far better than letting C13 autmatically import C12 prefs.
I feel like the things that you would like to see have not been addressed/implemented. Therefore, IMHO, you can safely wait out Cubase 14.
If you don’t want any of the new plugins or VST Instruments I’d skip the upgrade, there are too many bugs in Cubase 13
Do what profdraper did. Always, temporarily move or hide your C12 preferences so C13 can’t suck anything from the past. That includes versions prior to C12.
Yes. Unless you want to focus on something specific, only you will know by using it yourself. Every user is different and has different objectives.
I do admire your own steadfast resistance. But I’m thinking you might cave any day.
Every release, going back to SX, has seen “too many bugs.” IMO, this release is no different than any prior releases except more GUI issues due to major GUI changes. Also keep in mind users don’t post on a forum unless they have an issue or question.
So going back to the OPs question of UI and fonts, I think that area is improving and big improvements to come!
I see lots of posts on performance issues.
I couldn’t wait for C13 and when it came I absolutely love it, including the graphics that everyone seemed to complain about. I have experienced no bugs since I began using it from day one.
100% rock solid for me on Win11. Best release so far regarding bugs.
Yes, the GUI still needs improvement, but a couple of months of using it and I have pretty much forgotten the gripes I had at the outset.
Just my 10 cents …
I’m happy with it. Just need the solo exclusive feature to get repaired, but the world doesn’t stop spinning on its axis without it.
Same, I actually prefer the UI and fonts, feels more fresh and easy for me to find things. Happy to say it’s been pretty rock-solid on my end too.
I prefer Cubase 13 > Cubase 12.
But I’m waiting for a maintenance update to fix the annoying text focus issue which was a big regression to workflow from C12.
Three biggest issues are:
How can a company with so much experience in Audio Production DAW’s impliment things like this?
Crashes, lots of crashes some where everything is lost?
Autosave: regardless of what the autosave setting is set to, the actual autosave function operates like this:
a) No autosave
b) Random autosave outside of settings.
c) Works as expected.
I am sure.these are due to opening previous Cubase projects (pre C13) in C13
5am.
Windows 10
I sincerly hate it in comparison. How is it possibly, have Steinber outsorced the design and coding? Having recived criticism for years over an unintuvtive interface, they make it worse, and ugly and tiny too.
