I see several USB dongles for sale on Ebay with older versions of Cubase. But what if I have a newest Cubase version, that uses the new licensing system - is reselling it even possible? And what about the new VST instruments?
I ask because I am tempted to buy Halion 7, which is 50% off right now, but I don’t want to feel like I am stuck with it, in case I change my mind.
Thanks for your time
EDIT: This might be an off-topic question, but is it normal for Steinberg’s Absolute package (big collection of VSTs) to go on sale, as well?
Another point of interest is that, as of 2025, the dongle system will no longer be used. This might also be of interest to those of us who have VST instruments (Steinberg) licensed through your dongle. Just last month I received this notice from Steinberg and noticed that I had three or four instruments licensed through my dongle. There is a process where you can ‘upgrade’ your dongle licenses to the new Steinberg licensing system. It’s free.
Thanks for the reminder. I only have these licenses on my dongle (and now on my Steinberg account): Cubase 8 Artist, Cubase Elements 6 and WaveLab Elements 7. I am not sure why I also have Cubase Elements 6 - it makes no sense to me. I bought this Cubase package used, so I am not sure what the previous owner did.
And I also have TRIAL serial keys for the following products (on slips of paper that came with the box):
Prologue Discoveries, Dark Planet, Hypnotic Dance, Triebwerk, Elektronic Drums, HALion Sonic, Wavelab Elements 7, Padshop Pro, Yamaha Vintage Plug-In Collection, Cubase 7 (also trial).
