I am new to Dorico, from Finale. I have not found my particular situation from combing the Forum or Google. I am working on a Dorico doc which is a compilation of several vocalises, each roughly 8 - 12 bars, but I don’t decide the length until I get to the flow. Each warmup is its own flow. So far, I have 3 flows. In Layout Options, I have selected Show flow headings; FOR ALL FLOWS, as well as New flows: ALLOW ON EXISTING PAGE. I have Use ‘First’ page template: ANY FLOW STARTING AT TOP OF PAGE - however I don’t know if that makes any difference to my situation. I have entered the flow titles on the PROJECT INFO page, and they appeared for Flows 1 and 2; however, even though I made sure “Show flow headings for all” is selected, no Flow Heading for Flow 3 has appeared. I see suggestions to go to Page Template - but as I am potentially having a different template for every single different page, I cannot see how that would actually facilitate what I am trying to do. Obviously I am missing something(s).
Can you share your project file here, so that someone can take a look at what’s going on?
Check whether you have made any manual layout changes to the page (red triangle on the page icon in engraving mode). These prevent new flow headers from being displayed and also prevent the position of existing flow headers from being adjusted. If so, remove the page overrides and make any adjustments in the page template.
Um…How do I attach the file? I don’t see the “paper clip”, or anything else that suggests a way to attach.
Well, yes, I have made some manual layout changes - I added some text boxes. I have seen the red triangle(s). If I override those changes, I will lose those text boxes, correct?
You can drag the file directly into the edit window, or use the upload button in the toolbar.

Yes, correct.

Thank you, my husband just told me that as well.
As @BassoContinuo suggested, the issue is the manual changes you have made; if you do “Remove All Page Overrides”, the other flow heading will appear. (Then you can do Ctrl+Z, or just close the file without saving.)
The usual advice is to only create page overrides at the end of the layout process – or to avoid them completely, if possible. In your case, I think the text frame you added on p. 2 could just be staff text attached to the beginning of Flow 3.
OK, pardon my frustration. I would prefer to do things as they occur, not have to plan everything out in advance. It seems (to me) that creating a custom page template for every single page makes a lot of extra work. I have watched a few videos and they have not addressed the exact type of file I am trying to make. I have not (intentionally) made any custom templates yet. The notes I want to insert are a bit random; it does not make so much sense (to me) to plan them before I put them in. Clearly, I am not getting the basic premise.
So, I added not 1, but 3 text frames on page 2, and they include notes that relate specifically to Flow “2. OCTAVE ARPEGGIO”.
I want to have a Flow Title for Flow 3.
And I do not understand what “staff text attached to …3” means exactly anyway.
You don’t have to use Text Frames in Engrave mode, which produces Page Overrides.
As @asherber suggests, you could use staff attached text
There are two different ways to add text in Dorico. Text frames, which you have used, are attached to a position on a specific page. And as you have seen, adding them to a page creates page overrides, which can cause other layout issues.
You also add a text item, either staff text (attached to a note on a particular staff) or system text (attached to all staves in the system).
@TonH linked to the manual section on staff/system text. Basically, select a note in your music in Write mode and type Shift+X to enter staff text. This text will stay with the music, rather than be static on the page.
Here’s an edited version of your file that uses staff text instead of text frames. Because the first block of text on p.2 was so large, there was a collision with the flow heading for flow 3; I increased the flow heading top margin (in Layout Options) to resolve that.

Thank you. In Write mode, Shift+X for staff text. That helps very much. And what is the command for system text? (I did follow the link @TonH sent, but it did not mention the key strokes needed. I suggest that be added, as without, it makes getting the answers way more convoluted than they should be. I would guess I could search for Popovers? I can’t even be sure that’s the right term.)
And thank you for the edited file; I will see what I can glean from that.
I have a question about another topic, and that is upgrades. I’m still on 6.1.0.13. I tried to do one upgrade, but it only got so far - I suspect I may not have enough room on my computer - it says it has 669.5 GB available (of 1 TB).
That specific section describes the types of text items. If you scroll down to “Related links” at the bottom, you’ll see that the first one is “Inputting text items”; that one has the info you’re looking for. (The short answer is that system text is Shift+Alt/Opt+X, but it’s good to have a better understanding of how to navigate the manual.)
670GB is a huge amount of space, more than enough to upgrade Dorico. You should be able to upgrade by using the Steinberg Download Assistant (which should have been installed as part of your initial Dorico installation).
Yes, but I appreciate this.
