How to access ALL of the available audio inputs in the Input Routing window of the Inspector?

I know about configuring them in Audio Connections, but never got why I just can’t access any input I want from the Input Routing in the Inspector instead of being limited to what I have in Audio Connections.

I would like to be to simply see all the audio input options without having to pre-configure what I’m seeing in the Audio Connections window, which varies on so many sessions of mine over the years. Basically, I want the same list that’s available when you create a new audio track and can select any input you want, again without being limited by what you’ve configured in the Audio Connections window.

There might an obvious answer that I just didn’t know about..I hope so!

I have my inputs show up in the inspector alongside the buses created in Audio Connections. If I select an input, a bus is created automatically.
That said, I don’t really understand the benefits of the I/O bus system in Cubase.

Is that some setting anywhere? I vaguely remember having all my interface inputs visible in the selector, but I just checked and they are not there.

I’m on v12. Perhaps they changed it.

Hm, same in C12, I only see the pre-defined buses from the Audio Inputs. I could’ve sworn I had all the physical inputs available at some point.

Doesn’t really matter, I have not problem with the Audio Inputs, was just curious if it was some setting I don’t know.

I just checked and to my surprise, hardware inputs were not available from the inspector as I remembered. I even started in safe mode with preferences disabled, removed all my configured buses in Audio Connection (those are apparently not part of your user preferences) but they were still not there.
I think I mixed it up with the input selections from the Add Track dialog where you can select hardware inputs and Cubase will automatically create a bus for them. Sorry for any confusion.

You’re right, it’s only in the Add Track Dialog. Bit weird, the dialog is basically the same, why make it different in the inspector?

Very weird. I never noticed this before. It almost looks like an oversight.
