How to add 1 beat to a measure?

I’d like to extend 1 bar in my piece (in 4/4) by one beat (making it 5/4).

If I change the meter it awkwardly ruins the timings in the rest of my piece. How do I add 1 beat of rest without it messing up the rest of my piece?

There are several ways to achieve this by using Insert Mode.

The quickest is to enable Insert Mode (Global Adjustment of Current Bar) and lengthen a note value where needed. This will automatically create a 5/4 bar for that measure, while restoring 4/4 in the following bars.
