Hello, I am looking for a way to notate only a phrase that will be played in a repeat. I want to add a bracket on the score the show that is the only phrase that should not be played in 1st repeat. I have looked up here and other resources and mostly brackets are about the groupings. Has anyone any idea on this? Thank you very much.
Welcome to the forum, @Ryan1020 !
If I’m understanding you correctly, a standard way of doing this is putting the notes in as usual and just adding some text over the staff that says “2x only” or something like that.
If that doesn’t meet your needs, can you upload some kind of picture showing what you have in mind? As a new user, you may not yet be able to upload pictures (drag into the edit box or use the upload button in the toolbar), but you can post a link to an image hosted on a file sharing service.
One can create brackets with the line tool in Dorico 5 Pro.
hello asherber,
thank you for helping! I’m new to Dorico and the forum. Yes I understand about 2x only, my situation is like this:
I wrote a DS coda, and I want one of the phrasea to be played only during the repeat, everything else will be played both times. So I want to add a bracket for the specific phrase with 2x only, something like below:
2x only
( music notes here )
I am using elements, I also see a line tool but I cant create one…
Yes, may I ask how you add brackets like this please?
Click on the first note, Shift+ X, type (
, click on the last note, Shift+ X, type )
Then, in Engrave Mode, you can drag them next to the notes (if Elements allows this?)
oh yes It works! Thanks Charles!
