Hi,
Is it possible to align the notes on two (or more) MIDI tracks?
Antoine
Yes. Anything special you had in mind?
Yes, alignment of two midi tracks…
Yes, move the parts to the desired position.
I don’t want to align the parts/events. I want to align the individual midi notes. The problem is that the midi notes are not aligned to the grid. I also don’t want to align them to the grid.
Thus, I have multiple MIDI tracks that have notes at similar positions. I want to align the notes of all these tracks to one selected MIDI track that I want to use as a reference. Without quantization.
In a way this is similar to the alignment of audio (where you also do not simple move an event to the right position).
I have seen “solutions” to first convert the midi to audio and then align but this seems kind of ridiculous. Also because I want to keep the possibility to edit the midi after alignment.
Open Quantize Panel and drag-and-drop the MIDI/Audio pattern, you want to use as a source, to the Quantize grid of the Quantize Panel. Then you can Store this as your preset and Quantize by using this pattern.
Thanks. That’s what I was looking for. Although still tricky and manual adjustment required.
If you have them as separate events, and want to align them without snapping the events to the grid, maybe using “grid relative” snap option would work, then moving the events to the same position would keep them and their midi notes where they were relative to the grid, not snapped to it
