How to assign a Dorcio part to a VST instance?

How to assign a Dorico part to a VST instance ?

Now I have Cantai I’m struggling with this part of the interface.

I’ve got a mezzo part selected and Cantai VST but when I try and configure the end point Cantai tells me that I don’t have any voices selected.

In this Dorico interface how do I ‘select’ the voice - other than double clicking it?

I made it work for one song :birthday_cake: but can’t reproduce that

I’ve numbered the steps on the screen shot - what step have I missed ?

Have you just installed Cantai?
I encountered the same issue, after quitting and relaunching Dorico the parts (aka the SATB and m/f choir selection) appeared.

Thanks for quick reply.

I think exit- restart worked for the first song I tried.

Maybe there’s something odd here because seems to be two tracks for the mezzo.

I’ve never understood how to remove of surplus tracks. Is there a quick fix?

The two tracks are caused by Independent Voice Playback and two voices in the “player”.
In Write Mode move everything to one voice and then disable Independent Voice Playback in Play Mode.

But wait…

You have to select the Cantai voice in the Track Inspector rather than in the VST and MIDI tab.

brilliant thank you that is the right answer!

Independent Voice Playback is one of the things you have to turn on to make guitar work. To be honest I never spend any time in the audio magic that lives under control-4 - I’m always terrified I end up with no playback at all.

But now I am here - do you happen to know how I can add a reverb and ambience to the final output - the Cantai voice is very dry .
