How to assign a midi track to play chord-pads?

I have a chord tracks with chords. I assigned those chords to the chord-pad. When I play for example C2 on the keyboard the assigned chord on the pad is played. And important, it is only played as long as I press the key.
But when I have a mid part, with a C2 note, it does not do the same, like when I press this key on the keyboard. What I am doing wrong?
Or how do I have to route the midi track to get the same result as using the keyboard? Drives me nuts, don’t get it :wink:

Put a VST, like Halion on a MIDI track, and load a piano or guitar;
then put the track in either Record mode, or Monitor mode.

Thanks JDSStudios for your answer. But this is not my question. I know this, but what is besides pressing the key a way to trigger the chord-pad?

Maybe you didn’t understand what I said; the answer is right on your question, by routing a MIDI track.
