Hi
i have the Korg NanoKontrol2 midi controller, but i cant find how to use it as a CC controller for midi controlling
on the midi remote mapping assistant i created a new mapping page, and on the function browser i cant find any CC assignment , only other controls and commands.
is it possible with the new Midi remote or its only can done with the old Generic remote ?
for example, i want fader 1 on Nano to control CC11, fader2 Modulation, to write movements inside cc in midi editor
The MIDI remote cannot assign CC messages. There are some ways to do that though:
-
Solve this on the device side, if possible. I still don’t know if a user can “modify” what messages the NanoKontrol actually sends out. So, what MIDI message does it send out when you move fader 1 for example? Is there an application that allows you to tell it to send out CC1 channel 1 for example? If yes, problem solved. Record enable a track, MIDI data gets through, no further action needed.
-
Use a MIDI transformer. To translate the original message. If CC78 is coming through, transform it to CC1, again, record enable, data gets through, no other action needed.
-
Pass through the remote, control parameters of what you need. What is it that you need to do with CC1 exactly? If it’s a VSTi you’re trying to control, and that VSTi’s dynamics are set to be controlled, you make it so that the fader passes through the MIDI control, we lose its original message, but we make it control Dynamics.
-
Use quick controls. Which is number 3, but with less steps.
(Ok, 3 and 4 are out, because you want this in the Key Editor, you want the data to stay “in the musician’s part” so to speak. The transformer is probably the best bet. But, let’s wait for others to give their advice too.)
OK i think i got it, Basically i need to leave the controls (faders, knobs) on the NanoKontrol unassigned on the cubase Midi remote editor, and i need to Assign the CC from the Nanokontrol’s own editor ?!
ill try next time.
