I want to control a guitar amp sim in a Stack by midi cc. I have already assigned the corresponding cc to what I want to control inside the plugin.
I know how to do it in Cubase: set a midi track pointing to the instrument track with the plugin and enabling monitoring in both tracks.
Now how do I do the same in VSTL?
Set the MIDI CC work with VL, then give a try to LEARN button.
Make things more visible, click “QC” button on the right top of the plugin window
sorry but what do you mean? what do I have to enable?
When I right click on any knob on the plugin it waits and says no midi message received.
I don´t want to use QC in this case. I need some key strokes on my midi keyboard to change presets and scenes in the plugin. I have those already configured in it but how do I make VL listen to them?
Hi!
Check also send Photo
Devices / Connections / MIDI
Then photo from the plugin window while QC enabled and LEARN active
Hi @diegoalejo15 , basically you did it right. However I don’t know this plugin… don’t know from where it’s looking for Note 9 and Note 11 for Prev/Next. If you can figure this out, I think it would work.
Surely it should be looking for a CC rather than a note for program change?
just one trick, in the case if you haven’t try yet:
at QC’s you can dropdown and re-adjust touched values (e.g. you don’t need this and that to adjust, but another ones…)
THU accepts notes as can see in the screenshot and it is working fine in Cubase.
but I havent done anything! The pugin is not listening to any midi message at all.
I´m requesting for suppor t on which is the routing scheme needed to do what I need. How a stack (audio) should be set to listen to a keyboard (midi). I don´t see any midi configuration in the stack, do I need a midi track as in Cubase?
QC are for plugin knobs, not for moving between presets which is a global setting and has no button assigned.
Stacks don’t do MIDI but you should be able to choose a MIDI input in your VST
To assign MIDI parameters to a Stack, follow these general steps (assuming you are using a DAW or software with stack capabilities, like Ableton Live, Logic Pro, or similar):
- Create a Stack: First, create a stack of instruments or sounds you want to control with MIDI. A stack is typically a group of sounds layered together to create a fuller or more complex sound.
- MIDI Mapping: Open your MIDI mapping or automation settings in your DAW. This is where you can assign MIDI controllers (such as knobs, faders, or pads) to different parameters.
- Select the Parameter: Click on the parameter within the Stack (such as volume, pitch, filter cutoff, etc.) that you want to control via MIDI.
- Assign MIDI Control: Move the MIDI controller (e.g., turn the knob or slide the fader) you want to use to control that parameter. The DAW should detect the movement and assign it to the selected parameter.
- Test and Adjust: After mapping, test the MIDI controller to ensure it controls the intended parameter correctly. Adjust the sensitivity or range as needed.
I need to know how to do this is VL …
According to the manual, page 72, there is a setting for active MIDI inputs which you need to set up.
Hi @diegoalejo15 , you can continue finetuning your settings here (or GlobalStack if global). Maybe it’s more visible what is going on… or re-adjust params…
Well done! …and btw I meant the THU manual, page 72
oh sorry lol
