While working on a song, I often want to playback from a position and obey repeats, and other times ignore them, especially when I am playing back to hear a transition into a 2nd ending. In Finale, you can specify which repeat the playback head starts in. For example “start here but this is the 3rd repeat”. What is the equivalent in Dorico? I know about the Playback Options > Repeats > Play Repeats, but that’s not dynamic enough.
There’s no way to do this at the moment, I’m afraid. It has been often requested and is on our wish list for the future.
Thanks! Is there a key command for Playback Options > Repeats > Play Repeats that I can assign a shortcut to? I couldn’t find anything. Although I do have Keyboard Maestro that might work…
There’s no way to set a key command for this directly, I’m afraid. You could indeed contrive a macro of some kind with a third-party utility to achieve it.
For anyone who’s interested, here’s a keyboard maestro macro that seems to work. Curiously, pressing “Play repeats” as a button (the deactivated action in the screenshot) doesn’t work. It toggles the box alright, but Dorico doesn’t recognize it and the “Apply” button does not get activated. I had to work around that by clicking on a found image instead.
