Hello
I have a quarter note A in the soprano that I want to divide into 5 equal notes and create a tuplet showing in the score editor. I am having trouble using the “Build N tuplet” dialog box. Can someone please walk me through the settings I would need in the dialog box to create 5 equal notes quantized and showing as a tuplet in the score editor. I can’t seem to get it to work and it just gives me the error “can’t handle nested tuplets”
from the manual it says:
Change Length
Changes the length of all notes so that they correspond to the duration of the tuplet.
I should imagine this to be the right box to check but it does not work the way I want and I don’t know why.
thank you
Hi,
Use the Logical Editor, as follows:
Filter Target
( Type is | Equal | Note )
Action Target
Position | Divide by | 1.25
Length | Divide by | 1.25
Function
Transform
Select the 4 notes in the altos and apply this Logical Editor preset. This will make four 1/4 5-let notes and a 1/4 5-let break (g-a-g-f-/).

Thanks Martin but I think you misunderstood me. I only want the A quarter note to be divided into 5 tuplets. Not all 4 notes. The other 3 quarter notes in the soprano in the 1st bar remain as quarter notes. Make sense? Can you please help?
Here is a screenshot to show you how I want the soprano to look

Righ tnow it only works because I manually cut the midi in the key editor into 5 pieces but it is not quantized and the note values are all different lenghts (see below). I have my grid set to quarter notes as you can see. It displays fine but it won’t play back quantized with all notes of equal length
Hi,
In this case, select the note A. Us the Logical Editor preset.
Filter Target
( Type is | Equal | Note )
Action Target
Length | Divide by | 5
Function
Transform
Then Duplicate (Ctrl/Cmd + D) or Repeat (Ctrl/Cmd + K) the A note 4 times.
