How to change default project folder on iPad

Hi, macOS users can define where their projects are saved, choosing options like iCloud, Dropbox, or a specific folder. I would like to keep all my projects in one place, but I don’t like paying monthly for Apple iCloud as I have enough space on my Dropbox and pCloud. Are there any plans to allow users to define a default project folder on iPad? Is there some kind of limitation from Apple to push users to use iCloud instead?

At the moment we don’t have any concrete plans to provide options beyond the current choices, but we don’t rule it out for the future. The issue can be that third-party cloud file/sync providers add their own layer on top of the iPadOS file system, which makes working with those systems difficult. (For example, with Google Drive, you can only open certain file types in other applications, which makes it impractical for many apps.)

Thank you, Daniel, I understand. Open in place was already a big step forward. However, it makes no sense for users who are trying to keep all their data synced and accessible in one single place. I’ve never had any issues with Dropbox opening Dorico files on my Mac. If Dropbox were to drop support for .dorico files one day, users could easily switch back to iCloud. Anyway, being able to choose would be a great way to go. Since I got a Magic Keyboard, I use Dorico for iPad a lot, and this kind of exporting, copying, sending, and syncing doesn’t seem like the best way to work.
