How to change duration of all notes in sheet?

Hi, I’ve made a lead sheet in a 4/4 metre. I wrote the melody in all eighth-notes, but I’ve been told that this is not the right “feel” for what I want it to sound like.

How do I double all eighth-notes, so instead of 8x8, there’s now four quarter notes in every bar (4x4)?

  • Changing the duration of the notes with “ALT + SHIFT + right arrow” doesn’t work, since it doubles the length of two notes by removing the others to make space in the bar.
  • Manually adding a barline and then prolonging the notes has the same effect.

Is there any way I can manipulate my sheet so I don’t have to make a whole new one?

If you want to double the value of all notes, you must activate Insert mode (press “I”) select your music and then go to menu Write>Edit duration>Double note duration. This turns eights into quarter notes, quarter into half notes, and so on.
