I’m needing to change the bar thingy itself please.
Take a look in Engraving Options > Multi-bar Glyph Thingy Engraving Options > Rests > Multi-bar Rests
I did that, and the glyph isn’t changing.
I’m needing it to look like this:
Can you be more specific about what you’re looking for? You want the rest to have more of an inset from the barlines?
No. Can you not tell the bar itself from my picture is different from the default bar?
It’s different in a few different ways. I’m not sure which of those ways is significant to you.
- The H-bar has a larger than default inset from the barlines – that was my first guess
- It looks like there’s a handwritten font for the numeral, which you can get by changing your fonts for the project, or changing the font style for the multi-bar rest count
- It looks like the H-bar sits diagonally. I don’t think you can do this in Dorico, but someone else may have a solution.
The font is Jazz.
That’s for the multi-bar itself.
Losing the attitude would make folks around here a lot more inclined to help you…
I wasn’t giving anyone any attitude.
I think you will find a place at Engraving Options, where you can set this H-bar-rest to be narrow.
I have changed it to narrow and saved it as default, because I prefer it to the longer version.
I don’t think you can have an oblique bar like the one on your picture with Dorico. This could be a feature request, if you find it very important.
Increasing the inset from the barlines will make the H-bar relatively narrow.
If you want it to be a fixed width, then you have to set it to “Fixed width” (in Engraving Options, right above my earlier screenshot) and then set the width you want (at the bottom of my earlier screenshot).
For the record: I cannot find oblique rests important at all, and I wouldn’t want the Dorico team to waste time on its development. What information does an oblique H-bar convey better than the ordinary straight one? Even more (fake) informality?
It’s a jazz band piece. Jazz band pieces have used a different style H-bar for years now.
I sent you a message.
