Is there a way to have the second flow and onward to look exactly like flow 1? I’m wanting flows 2 and onward to basically be a “clone” of flow 1. Despite me having the setting “Use ‘First’ page template” set to any flow starting at the top of the page, flow 2 is not a “clone” of flow 1. I’m wanting to keep all of my marching band shows into one file please. What I want is to be able to click on new flow in setup mode and Dorico “clones” flow 1’s layout (which I’ve already made edits to via page templates) without any music. Yes, I see the option for duplicate a flow, but that also brings over the music from the first flow.
Hi @35TCB77, actually Engraving options are global, Layout options are also global (and can be customised per layout). The only Options that are customisable per Flow are Notation Options. So you may want to set them the same, once you create a new flow, or decide what are your desired Notation Options, and click on Save as Default.
And instead of duplicating the flow (which duplicates also the music), just create a new flow, if you want to avoid deleting the music afterwards:
Thanks to your Layout Options, the new Flow will start with the First page template. You just need to define a Time Signature and insert the desired Nr. of bars.
The only local customisation that I see in your template is the Brackets and Barline Change (the brown signpost at the beginning). Instead of changing them, you can delete the signpost, and use Player Groups in Setup mode: the brackets will follow the groups, and this will be inherited by the new flows as well:
So, combine the instruments into groups like I had the staff brackets and I should be good to go? I’ll be doing this via the players panel in setup mode.
In addition to what @Christian_R has said, if a new flow is created by using the Split Flow command somewhere in an existing flow, the bracketing will revert to default in the new flow.
So, I deleted a few of the drumline instruments, and replaced them with Dorico’s version. Because I did that, now the staff bracket is no longer attached to the xylophone/bells even though I have small ensemble selected in the layouts options. What do I do now?
