How to Close Color Palette in Cubase Without Clicking the "X"?

Hi everyone
I have a shortcut to open the color palette in Cubase to quickly change track colors. the issue that I noticed is that the only way to hide the palette is by clicking the X button with the mouse.

Is there a way to close the palette directly using a keyboard shortcut or another method without having to click the X every time?

thank you.

Hi,

Esc works for me.

As @Martin.Jirsak said. Now, if you want to use a command for this, it’s the Focus→Escape.

Thanks guys, yep it worked for me as well I dont know why I had the impression it was unresponsive.

Since Cubase 14, you can also use the “Set Track/Event Color” hotkey to both open and close this window.

Hi Jendrik, yep I noticed that, it is so cool.

Also, you can Cmd/Ctrl + mouse wheel (or 2-finger swipe on touchpad) over the track header to cycle through the color palette

Thanks, mate, for sharing this… What a gem of a feature, I never knew about it.

I found it by accident

Hi,

As the default (grey) color is on the top of the list, you have to start to scroll down.

I’m using only this method all the time.

Is this a “Mac only” feature ? because it doesn’t work, here…

(Cubase 14.0.10 Pro / Windows 10 22H2)

EDIT/Correction : I have misunderstood the “track header” part : actually, it’s only the colored part (with the track type icon) that is involved. And indeed, it works…

Nope. Works here on Win11 as well. The ctrl/scrolling should be done at the number-of-track area:

Indeed, sorry : I have corrected my previous post accordingly.

Sorry, I should’ve been more precise. Happy it works

This is extremely good with a rather reserved (say 16) color palette. Extremely fast! The key command is perfect for large palettes (128).

Should be the by-line for Cubase since C13.
