How to completely delete Spectralayers (Mac OS)

Yesterday I deleted Cubase 15 completely from my SSD (Macbook Pro M1, Mac OS Sequioa).

Searched for remaining files from Steinberg, but none were found, not even in hidden files.

Somehow, in Ableton, the Spectralayers VST3 pluging continues to show up in my plugin list, although it’s not working. Strangely enough, no sign of Spectralayers in both Bitwig and Reaper.

I’ve tried everything to get rid of Spectralayers, short of doing a clean install of Mac OS.

Any suggestions ?

The VST3 plugin should be in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 - are you sure you deleted it from there?

I have deleted everything, did a thorough search with FindAnyFile and there’s nothing left from Spectralayers.

There are some hidden files left labeled Steinberg in this directory : HD/private/var/db/oah ; the problem is that the ‘oah’ folder is not accessible and I cannot change the permissions, even with my administrator password.

I have tried everything, only thing left to do is a clean install of Mac OS but that will take a lot of time…

I was able to see this directory and its contents by going into recovery mode, disabling csrutil, and then rebooting. This is a little risky if you don’t re-enable it, though.

I didn’t see any hidden Steinberg files, though.

EDIT: I said I didn’t see any hidden Steinberg files, but then I realized I don’t know what those files are called. Could you tell me the names of some of those files?

With csrutil enabled, I can see the hidden folders but have no permissions to delete them. With csrutil disabled, the folders are gone… Very, very strange…

That is really strange. Could you tell me what they are called? I’m now just really curious.

Will post that tomorrow, it’s almost 11pm where I live

Some new information : I seem to have the same problem in Komplete Kontrol.

When scanning for plugins, it gives the same error message as Ableton ‘Spectralayers ARA. Spectralayers path could not be found’ and Spectralayers is also in Komplete Kontrol’s plugin list.

When scanning with FindAnyFile, no sign of anything from Steinberg or Spectralayers, even in hidden files so nothing to delete…
Really weird.

You may have done this already, but I’m not sure how much you know, so…could you try this in the Terminal

cd /Library
sudo find . -iname '*spectralayer*'

and show the results here? Maybe FindAnyFile isn’t finding something.

Alternatively, is there any way to clear the plugin cache in Komplete Kontrol and Ableton and rescan?

Hi:
Sorry to say, I am out of ideas. Perhaps it’s best to contact support and ask what they would recommend.

Guess there’s not much else to do.

Thanks for the help, in any case…
