Sorry, if it’s a wrong category, but I didn’t find another one for General questions.
I’d like to receive notifications only
My posts and replies in my posts
Threads where I replied to
Threads that I subscribed to
All new Topics (Threads) in a specific Category but not for new replies in it if I didn’t mark the Thread for notifications
With the current setting it looks like I can get either mails about every post and every reply in Category I’m interested in. It’s a lot and much more than I need.
This forum is Discourse. It supports quite a lot of what a traditional mailing list does, but it is not a full fledged mailing list such as LISTSERV, so don’t expect too much. Go to your Preferences panels and adjust Emails and Notifications to your preference. That will go a long way to addressing some of your desires.
As to filtering outbound mail by category, I don’t recall Discourse being able to do that. There may be an extension filter to do that but you’d have to get Steinberg to put it into their enterprise hosted instance and I doubt they would be willing to do that.
Discourse is primarily a web forum, not a mailing list. It’s important to remember that.
You can see that others want this too here, but you can also see that from a programming point of view this is difficult and hard to resolve. Meta Discourse is the development forum for Discourse.
You’d be best off using your email client to do whatever filtering you want. Just get it to silently delete stuff you dont want, or file stuff you do want in a folder and have another folder or all the rest.
Sorry, what I have said is irrelevant to you. In this forum, Dorico and Cubase and so on are Categories. But that is not what you are asking. So there is only one Category here. That is not how I would have designed this forum but there you are. And in Discourse Topics are not called Threads. You need to know you are using the technical term Category here incorrectly. You should say Topic.
Others do want what you do, but from the Meta Discourse forum I’d say it may be a very long time coming. On the forums that I run, every week I have to spend time explaining Discourse does mail but it is not a mailing list.
