how to control project when 'edit window' is in the active

how to control project track using keyboard shortcut when ‘edit window’ is in the active state.

In Cubase 5, Presing ‘M’ button in the Edit window could mute the selected track.(inverted colors).

but In Cubase 8, Presing ‘M’ button in the Edit window couldn’t mute the selected track.(inverted colors).

i want to control ‘Red Square part’ in screenshot when ‘edit window’ is in the active state.

This is because incorrect settings? Someone please help.

You can quickly do this via the Project Logical Editor.

Then assign a key command to this.
