I’m wondering if Steinberg has started using AI in Cubase to allow conversion of audio files to midi files?

Depends what material you are working with. Can convert hit points to MIDI notes for drums for example. Can use VariAudio for monophonic material and you can try dragging an audio file onto a chord track to get some results.
Furthermore you can split stems with AI first and then try the above.
If you go into the audio editor there are options down the left. One of them is to create midi from audio. Ive used this to get midi for a guitar solo. If you mean a full song as opposed to a single instrument then you can’t do it that way. You could however use something like Spectralayers to split the audio and then do it.
