How to Create Horizontal Gaps Between Measures on the Same System in Dorico?

Hello everyone,

I’m working on an educational method that contains hundreds of short musical examples. As you can see in the attached image (picture of a score done with Sibelius), I’m able to create horizontal gaps between certain measures within the same system in Sibelius. However, I haven’t found a straightforward way to achieve this in Dorico.

I would like to insert small spaces between some bars to visually separate the examples—without having to create hundreds of separate flows. I’ve read that some users rely on the coda feature to fake these gaps, but this feels overly complicated for such a simple layout need.

Is there an easy and clean way in Dorico to create these gaps within a single system?

Thank you very much for your help!

Add these as codas (shift-R, coda) and hide the coda sign using the bottom properties panel.

It’s not complicated. Works perfectly well.

Many thanks, I get this result now. So it’s fine if I do this hundreds of times?

Also, can I hide the second treble clef? I didn’t see this option (time signature car be hidden but didn’t find for the clef)

many thanks!

Insert an invisible clef, shift-C invisible. You can set the default coda gap under Library→Engraving Options→Repeat Markers. With signposts shown, you can copy/paste or alt-click the codas and clefs.

Another option is to use manual cutaways and hidden time signatures, but probably more work.
