Let’s take as example 20 contiguous notes of any duration and pitch.
If we insert bowing marks on a non-contiguous selection (e.g., notes 1,3,5,8,13) we get a total of 5 symbols with no duration. If we do the same with a contiguous selection (e.g., notes 1-through-5), we get 5 symbols without duration.
When writing string music it is often necessary to have alternative fingerings placed above or below the staff. No problem, I’ve created all the PTs I need for that.
When I need to add dozens of 1s or dozens or 2s (pedagogical material), I would like to select non-contiguous notes and have these PTs behave like bowing marks. Since I am here you know this doesn’t work and a single PT with a duration gets created.
Editing the PT to have continuation = repeat the signs works only for contiguous notes, not for non-contiguous ones. I tried to copy every setting from bowing marks, but bowing marks have “none” as continuation.
Is there a non-user-accessible feature of bowing marks that allows them to behave like they do?
Is there any way to make it work for other PTs?
Thank you!
