Beware of “free plugins”. Often, they require a huge effort to load them and an even bigger effort to get rid of them.
Other than that, on Mac, if your plugins are still there, try going to the hidden library [Menu: Go, and hit Option to bring up the hidden Library] then go to the Steinberg folder and hunt down the unwanted plugins.
