How to disable forum "Do you want live notifications..." bar

When I log in to this forum, I am asked: “Do you want live notifications when people reply to your posts?”. I don’t - so click the close button on the right side of the bar. Next time I log in, the bar is displayed again.

Since the bar takes up valuable screen space, I would like to disable it permanently (particularly as I will never want live notifications). Is there a way to do this?

that is something you can do from your web browser settings.

There is a preference for it in your settings in your forum account too - under notifications > live notifications

Aha! Notifications were already disabled (i.e. not enabled) in my forum preferences - it was changing the setting in my browser I had missed - thank you.
