How to disconnect Aleatoric boxes from the grid

Hi all,

I know there are plenty of posts about Aleatoric notation (which I have found helpful!), so I already know several ways to make the boxes and various extension lines, etc.

I’m wondering if there’s any way to aleatoric measures of music that are disconnected from each other on a grid. I’ve got different motives in different time signatures, and each is cued to start from a previous one in a way that is not always predictable or can snap to the grid easily.

Short question: is there a way to create floating measures of music in boxes that I can DRAG AROUND the page and just place it where they need to be?

Thanks!

You could put the individual fragments in separate little flows, disconnect them from the main frame chain and put them in separate music frames instead, those can be positioned wherever you want. Or you could even use Graphic Slices and Graphic Frames, an even more ‘manual’ process. But maybe you could share some illustration of what exactly you’re after, as I’m having difficulty picturing it just yet.
