Hey gang,
I’m needing to get a desired look to match some french music where the snare note has both up and downstem on each note. I can’t seem to get this to happen on a single lined stave.

Hey gang,
I’m needing to get a desired look to match some french music where the snare note has both up and downstem on each note. I can’t seem to get this to happen on a single lined stave.

Try using two voices (up-stem and down-stem) assigned to the same staff line.
I did try that. It will initially put two noteheads side by side. I tried forcing stems up and down, but it will only do one or the other without providing two separate stems. I’m doing this on a single line. DId you have success?
The easiest is to use the percussion 1-line kit. Set it to show as a 5-line staff. Add two identical instruments, and put them on the same staff line. One with stems up, and one with stems down.

Ok,
I wish I was having luck here. I tried what you have beautifully provided, however, I’m still getting the same problem where it won’t keep my voices separate. Also, It forces two lines now in page view. I’m sure I’m messing something up here.
Care to supply your file? You can PM me if you prefer. Check Library→Layout Options→Players→Percussion so that it’s using a 5-line staff.

That was it!!! Sweet!!!
If sound is important, it might sound weird with two snares. In that case, select all the notes in one of the snares and supress playback in the properties panel.
