How to hide a barline in middle of flow in Dorico 5?

Hello,

How to hide a barline in the middle of flow in Dorico 5?
I cannot find a way. Is it possible?

Thanks in advance!

Just delete it?

No, deleting any barline other than the default will change the barline to the default barline.
However, deleting the default barline does not hide it.

If I select this default barline, and delete it,

… I get this:

ā€œBang, and the barline is gone.ā€ Admittedly, you don’t have the extra space that a barline conveys. It depends what you’re trying to achieve by ā€˜hiding’ the barline.

Alternatively, you can set a Tick barline, and configure the length of the tick to be of no length. (-1/2 space, I Think.)

Hm…

It is strange…

Perhaps using senza misura could be the problem? The bar before the barline is senza mesura, and the bar after the barline has meter…

So, don’t start the meter until the 2nd beat of the new page…?

The meter starts at the first bar of the second page in the screenshot.

  • until the first page of the screenshot: three times senza misura.
  • the first bar of the second page of the screenshot: 4/4, 1
  • the second bar of the second page of the screenshot: 4/4

So why do you want to hide the barline at the end of the senza misura section? That would suggest that it continues onto the next page, surely.

This is a part of worksheets for my student, and this staff is for sketching. Usually staff for sketching has no barline…

Option 1: Make the barline a dashed barline, and in Engraving Options > Barlines > Design set the dash length to 0. This works very well, but only if you don’t need real dashed barlines elsewhere in your piece.

Option 2: As @benwiggy suggested elsewhere, use a tick barline and set the properties of the barline in Engrave mode so that the tick hides itself.

Thank you very much!

Also, it would be great if the colour change worked for the barline.
We can change the transparency but it has no effect.
