Hi all, I’m endeavouring to find a way to input patch changes into Dorico 5…..simple things like clean guitar to distorted and back…..electric piano to acoustic piano and back, etc. I’m only using the HALion Library sounds…..I’m familiar with the concept of Expression Maps and playing techniques, but have failed to find any video tutorials online which break down the process of inserting these patch changes…..and spent about 8 hours yesterday with the assistance of Chat GPT, but this was also unsuccessful.
I am able to change sounds in HALion sonic, and change instruments within a single player; but if someone can please direct me to a STEP BY STEP instructional approach to basic Expression Map PATCH CHANGING that would be very much appreciated.
There’s a whole series of Dorico tutorials on this topic. Try this one…

Hi Janus, Thanks for responding to my query. I’ve watched this video many times. It relates to Expression Maps for key switches controlling articulations. This is not what I need to know. I am interesting in changing patches or sounds, which is not covered in this video, or any other I’ve seen so far. At least not in a step by step manner. Can you please recommend something that addresses this?
It seems it would be much easier to assign the two guitar (sounds) to a single player and let Dorico manage the switch.

Hi Derrek, You mean having a single player holding two instruments?
Yes. That’s what I meant.
