Yes, as @Vadian points out:
From a logical standpoint it makes sense: if you want to change a page’s page number, you have to know, which page it should apply to.
If you just want to change pages from left to right, you can also in Layout Options change the first page number from 1 to 2.

interesting: that was actually what I was looking, (and had used before) : but help found me to the ‘page by page’ override. I’m sure both are useful
