In Cubase 12 Pro, when creating a score (in this case for big band), the chords are displayed at the top of the page, above the first track (in this case Alto Sax 1). To do this, it must be associated with that top track (in Score Settings > Layout tab, by checking under “C” to “Show chord track symbols for this staff”). But the score is normally printed out in transposed form (each part being display transposed), so since the chord track is connected to the Alto 1 track, when the tracks are display transposed (Alto sax is in Eb, so a 6th above concert), the chords are also. A C7 chord now displays as an A7.
Is there any way to prevent this? I’ve been just transposing the chord track down a m3rd so that when the Alto 1 track is display transposed, the chords will be correct. This has obvious problems when working on voicings for chords - I keep everything in concert key, but because the Alto track is now back to concert vs. Eb, the chords are now wrong.
Deactivate Display Transpose in Score Settings
THANKS! I knew it had to be somewhere, I didn’t think to look under the “chord symbols” settings. Needless to say I could not track it down in the documentation.
I appreciate your prompt and clear reply! Thanks again.
