How to keep kontakt open when clicking on another window outside cubase

Hello, I am using a third party OSC type like software to change articulations, but the issue I have is that everytime I mouse click the articulation on this software, because it’s not cubase the kontakt windows close automatically and I need to re focus on cubase.

Is there a way to prevent that apart from unchecking “always on top” ?

Hi,

Right-click into the plug-in window and disable the “Always on top” option for the given window. You can set this also globally in the Preferences > VST > Plug-ins > Plug-in Editors “Always on Top”.

it still doesn’t work after unchecking “Always on Top” on plugin editors.
New instrument track have the option ON, I need to disable it manually for each one every time

Then change the Preference Martin showed you.

precisely, with the preference uncheked, new instruments still get “always on top” checked

I can’t recreate that here. When unchecked New instances of a VSTi have ‘Always on Top’ disabled. But it does leave existing instances unchanged.

Can you provide the exact steps you are taking which show the problem.

EDIT
And are you on a Mac or PC?

I checked the behavior, it just works as expected.

Of course, it does. I (we?) expect that.

Cubase 13.0.41 on Windows 10

I’d expect you would, but maybe the OP…?

Just to be sure, since none of us see your screen,

  1. verify Preferences > VST > Plug-ins > Plug-in Editors “Always on Top” is not activated
  2. open a plugin and right click to verify Always on Top is not activated.
  3. close the plugin
  4. reopen it and observe how it behaves.

If it’s still the same try again but in Safe Mode to rule out corrupt prefs.

it still happens after following your steps

what option should I sheck in safe mode ?

Hi,

If you want to get default settings (most of the settings) for the testing purposes, choose the Disable Program Preferences.

If you have already tested with disabled preferences and the issue has been fixed by doing this, you can choose the Delete Program Preferences, to make it permanent.

If you want to boot Cubase without the 3rd party plug-ins (because they are causing a crash or something like this), enable the option.

update : by disabling the preferences, it is now working as expected. There’s no always on top checked for new instruments

How should I apply that to my template without losing all my pref ? exporting pref then re importing them on a default pref cubase ?
