In my expression mapping, there are two basic switches, “natural” and “natural + Non vibration”, which have differences on CC3 (see figure). It’s peculiar that when I employ the combined technique of “natural + non-vibration,” the software consistently plays back the “natural” effect, even after I’ve added a “non-vibration” technique to my score.
You don’t need Natural + non vib. Just non-vib will do. So in this case you don’t need a combination at all.
Dorico 6 sometimes caches parts of the expression maps and you might need to close and reopen your project to see expected results.
I didn’t know this and so far haven’t experienced it. Is this new and confirmed behavior?
It seems to be new in Dorico 6. I think the first time I experienced it was when I realized transpose was set wrong for a slot in the map. Changed the transpose value for the correct slot in the correct map and hit play and it still played back with the wrong notes (wrong octave). Saved and closed the file and reopened, and it played back in the correct octave with the correct notes.
Had similar things happen with a student where new slots added or slots removed and the piano roll playing techniques lane didn’t show the changes, closed and reopened the file and suddenly they were there.
I don’t remember ever having these types of problems in Dorico 5.x where I’d have to close and reopen the file for these changes to take effect - I would change the map and see the results immediately.
I assumed it was related to the new changes in 6 where the playback changes have been moved to processing during idle time instead of during edits to speed up performance.
