How to make an audio L & R the same volume/power

Hey guys I’ve tracked my guitars, bounced them as a .wav on an old project which i no longer have access to however the Left guitar is slightly louder than the right [but they are both embedded in one .wav file] . when I import the .wav file into cubase 15, how can I make both levels the same volume/power?

What about the new Stem Separation feature?

Either convert the stereo to dual mono and adjust each channel independently, or use one of the multitude of plugins out there which let you insert and adjust each channel independently (e.g. https://www.meldaproduction.com/MUtility ).

The simplest way is to use the Stereo Balance Panner, which for most people is the default panner.
Move it to the right until the levels are even.

It works so that if you move it to the right you attenuate the left channel.

how do you use this to split channels?

Ha ha, I have no idea, I haven’t updated. Sorry.
:man_bowing:

Go to Project→Convert Tracks→Multi-Channel to Mono

It will let you make separate tracks for L and R channels.

I don’t understand what’s wrong with using the (stereo balance) panner. Too easy?

In the end, this is exactly what a balance setting is for: balancing the left and right side to each other.

While that is a good solution if you simply want to balance, it occurs at a different point in the signal processing chain compared to other solutions so is less flexible.

If you need it earlier there is the Multipanner plugin. Almost a bit too much for this simple task but it works nevertheless.
